Music is a vital part of the worship at Faith Baptist Church. At Faith you will experience the finest in Christian music, featuring traditional hymns and special numbers presented in a conservative rather than a CCM style.
FBC does not support the contemporary Christian music movement. CCM, as it is called, is a worldly substitute for godly Christian music. By CCM we do not mean music that is new as opposed to old. Faith Baptist Church's musicians often sing or play music that was recently written and published. CCM is a style of music that appeals to the flesh, is entertainment oriented and is associated with the world. Rock, Country, New Age, CCM, Rap, etc. are among styles not permitted in the services of Faith Baptist Church.
Instrumental music (without voice accompaniment) ought to be songs that are generally familiar to the congregation. We are not interested in exalting talent or appealing to the flesh. The message is of primary importance.
We realize some very beautiful music is available on tape, but we have not permitted it for general use in our services. Using taped background lends itself to abuse. Too often the individual singer and the church as a whole become tied to those who produce the music, a Hollywood atmosphere is projected in the church services and God's people are not taught to work together. Furthermore, taped backgrounds do not allow the leading of the Lord in the individual interpretation of the music. Many churches have seen embarrassed vocalists trying to catch up with their tape after an uninvited cough or another distraction.
There are many areas of opportunity for those who are gifted musically. Members of the church are invited to participate in the choir and orchestra. Those with special talents are invited to sing or play solos, join ensembles, and accompany other musicians. Pianists are needed in the main services as well as in other departments of the church.
The music selected for our services is the primary responsibility of the music director, who approves all special numbers. Our prayer is that the music at FBC would continue to please and glorify Jesus Christ.
